If you’re looking for the ideal time to visit the Caribbean, March is our tried-and-true favorite. Over the years, we’ve found this month offers:
- Warm and sunny days
- Pleasant temperatures
- Low humidity
- Calm seas
- No hurricanes
Where We Stayed: Overwater Bliss
A must-do on our travel list was experiencing an overwater bungalow. We found our slice of paradise at the tranquil, adult-only boutique stay Aruba Ocean Villas, choosing the Isla Alistaire villa. The sunsets in this Villa were hands down, the best—absolutely breathtaking and perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure.

How Long to Stay?
We spent 6 nights and 7 days in Aruba, but honestly, we could have stayed longer! Now, we aim for 8-night, 9-day vacations whenever possible to soak up every moment.
Getting Around: Why You Should Rent a Car
Renting a car is highly recommended if you want the freedom to explore at your own pace. Aruba is:
- Safe
- Very easy to navigate (though be prepared for lots of roundabouts!)
- Perfect for adventurous road trips
If you plan to visit Arikok National Park, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is a must—preferably something high off the ground like a Jeep. We rented one for two days specifically for this adventure.
Where We Stayed: Savaneta
We based ourselves in Savaneta, which made it quick and easy to reach any point on the island. Foodies will love the local dining options—Zeerover, Flying Fishbone, and The Old Man and the Sea are all highly rated. Our personal favorite was Azzurro, an Italian restaurant on Palm Beach with a stunning ocean view. Pro tip: Make reservations well in advance, especially for sunset.

Activities & Adventures
Here’s a taste of what we did:
- Coastal drive to California Lighthouse and a dip at Arashi Beach
- Hiking Andicuri Bay: Start at the Natural Bridge (busy with tourists), then follow the beach to Shark Bay, Triopod Bridge, and Blackstone Beach. Keep going to discover a beautiful, secluded natural pool!
- Snorkeling outside our bungalow: We spotted a barracuda and other colorful fish
- Exploring Arikok National Park: Don’t miss Quadirikiri & Fontein Caves (with ancient Amerindian petroglyphs) and the Conchi Natural Pool (even if the weather isn’t perfect, it’s worth seeing)
- Snorkeling at Baby Beach: Our best snorkeling experience! Don’t underestimate the wind, and grab lunch at Rum Reef
- Walking San Nicolas: Set aside an afternoon to enjoy the vibrant street art and have a cocktail at the famous Charlie’s Bar, a third-generation establishment since 1941

Most Memorable Moments
- Swimming in a secluded cave pool (accessed by a long wooden ladder!)
- Exploring the mysterious Ayo Rock Formations—massive boulders on an otherwise flat island
- Breakfast with Floppy, the resort dog
Most Surprising
The desert landscape in the east of Aruba is rugged and beautiful—a dramatic contrast to the tropical beaches in the west.
Must-Have Travel Item
After touring the Aruba Aloe Factory and using their products for years, I never travel to a sunny destination without their aftersun lotion and burn aid gel. Aruba has been producing aloe products for over 150 years—enough said 🤩
Final Tips:
- Book accommodations and restaurants early, especially for sunset views.
- Rent a car (and a Jeep for the park).
- Don’t forget your aloe!
