If you’re dreaming of a Caribbean getaway, let me share why March in Saint Lucia is one of our favorite escapes. We’ve made it a tradition to travel to the Caribbean this time of year, and here’s why it never disappoints: the weather is warm and sunny, the temperatures are pleasant, humidity is low, the seas are calm, and best of all—no hurricanes to worry about.
Choosing the All-Inclusive Route
For this trip, we decided to treat ourselves to an all-inclusive experience—a perfect way to truly unwind. We split our stay between two resorts: 3 nights at Sandals Grande St. Lucian and 4 nights at Sandals Regency La Toc. Both offered unique experiences, and we thoroughly enjoyed each for different reasons.
Getting There: A Heads-Up
A quick tip for fellow travelers: the drive from the airport to either resort is mountainous and can take up to two hours, depending on traffic. If you’re prone to motion sickness like I am, I highly recommend Sea Bands—they provide drug-free relief by applying gentle pressure to your Nei-Kuan acupoint. I never travel without mine! Sandals Grande St. Lucian: Lush Grounds & Memorable Moments
Our first stop was the Grande St. Lucian, the pricier of the two resorts. We opted for a garden walk-out room, set away from the main pool—a choice we loved for its privacy, quiet atmosphere, and easy garden access. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous, bursting with flowers and featuring plenty of pool options. I especially appreciated the abundance of lounge beds—no need to wake up at 2AM to claim a spot!
Dining was a highlight, with Gordon’s on the Pier as our favorite restaurant. It’s tough to get a reservation, but we lucked out by putting our name down and relaxing in the lounge area with a bottle of wine until a spot opened up.
A must-do experience: hiking Fort Rodney. Just a short walk from the resort, this historic site (built in 1778) offers an easy hike with some steeper climbs and rewards you with stunning views of the bay and island—all for less than $10 per person.
Sandals Regency La Toc: Hillside Charm & Spectacular Sunsets
Our second stay was at Sandals Regency La Toc, and it quickly became our favorite. We booked the Pitons Oceanview room with a private sundeck, which was centrally located and made it easy to get around the resort. The property is set on a beautiful, rolling hillside, so be prepared for a bit of walking—or take advantage of the golf cart service if you prefer a lift. For us, the hillside setting was a highlight: every evening brought breathtaking sunsets, and we loved discovering the many hidden nooks scattered throughout the grounds.
The Cliff Side area stood out as our top spot. Here, you’ll find the best sunset views, a quiet and spacious pool, and (in my opinion) the resort’s best restaurant, which served Italian. To top it off, the service at La Toc was exceptional—truly the best we experienced during our trip.

Favorite Experiences at La Toc
- Golfing: The nearby 18-hole course was a blast. Pro tip: bring extra water or beer from your room—you can trade them with locals for more balls and tees!
- Boat Ride to the Pitons: We took a catamaran to see the famous Pitons, and even had dolphins join us for part of the ride.
A Word of Caution: Tourist Traps
Not every excursion was a hit. We tried the Sulphur Springs Mud Bath & Waterfall Tour, but it felt crowded and rushed—like being herded through with little time to enjoy. In hindsight, we tend to prefer exploring on our own with a rental car, which gives us more freedom and authentic experiences. There are always pros and cons, but that’s part of the adventure.
Final Thoughts
Saint Lucia in March is a slice of paradise, especially if you’re looking for warmth, relaxation, and a bit of adventure. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, hiking historic sites, or sailing past the Pitons, there’s something for everyone.
